I was born in Haslingden in north east Lancashire where I attended Haslingden Grammar school. Later I went to Keele University. I used to live in Clapton in East London but now I paint and work in the French village of Montclar in the Aude.
I paint portraits from life or from photographs. In my portrait painting I use as many colours as I can see in the human face.
More practically I find it impossible to recreate the same colour or tint several days after creating the first batch.
The paintings are either oil or acrylic on canvas and vary in size but the majority measure approximately 40 x 30 cms
or 16 x 12 inches.
